Green Aiders

Groundwork, a community and environmental charity, are now running our Green Aiders service in Harlow.

The Green Aiders is a free, one-off garden clearance service available to vulnerable or disabled ex-Service personnel or their spouses, partners, widows/widowers, children or dependants aged 65 plus.

The service is funded by The Royal British Legion through its External Grants programme and garden visits are carried out by dedicated volunteers led by Groundwork staff. The service aims to make gardens more manageable, safer and more pleasant to spend time in, as well as protecting vulnerable people from becoming victims of criminals or fraudsters, who often see properties with overgrown gardens as potential targets. The number to call for anybody wishing to use the service, or refer somebody in need of the service, isĀ 01707 255182.

We would really appreciate your help in promoting the scheme around Harlow, as we are currently looking for residents who need their gardens clearing. Perhaps you could speak about it at any residents forums or meetings you hold, or include it on any newsletters or bulletins that you distribute? I have a attached an information flyer, which includes the contact telephone number for anybody who wishes to use or refer somebody to the service, and we would be happy for you to distribute this around to your residents if possible.

Many thanks,

Kat Davies
